West Coast Eagles Football Club

This pair of artworks stand at the entry to the West Coast Eagles HQ in Mineral Resources Park in Lathlain.

Artist Anne Neil created perforated light boxes forming the images of an Eagle in flight, and needed the perfect luminaire to exactly replicate the team's iconic blue and gold colours.

The pureLED Linear rose to the challenge, evenly backlighting the wall behind the light boxes and carefully colour tuned to perfectly present the colours. The second piece includes a series of 'buttons' engraved with the names of all West Coast Eagles players past and present dotted along a wall adjacent to the pedestrian ramp leading to the front door of the venue. The pureLED Linear was used again, grazing the wall evenly and catching the reflective surface of the buttons and creating a complex interplay of sparkling reflections and shadow. A Color Kinetics iPlayer 3 handles the show playback.

Graceful and subtle end to end movement is programmed on both pieces, and scheduled on/off times are automatically adjusted throughout the year thanks to the iPlayer's built in astronomical timeclock.
