As the electrical consultants for the Scarborough Beach Pool, ETC specified Dynalite as the Intelligent Lighting Control System of choice to provide autonomous lighting control of the facilities with minimal staff interaction to allow staff to focus on the daily operations of the building. Light Application was approached to provide site wide control with features like: The Dynalite ILCS controls the lighting for both front-of-house (pool/reception/change room) areas as well as back-of-house (plant rooms, store rooms, distribution/communications rooms). It is interfaced with the access control, security and fire systems.
The main reception contains sensors to provide daylight harvesting of the reception DALI LED luminaires, to provide further energy savings when the natural daylight achieves required LUX levels in the foyer. The change rooms contain ceiling mounted sensors to allow detection of public while in closed cubicles to prevent lighting from automatically turning off whilst occupied. The pool lighting consists of 8 curved lighting poles with 3x LED flood lights per pole, the LED flood lights are controlled by Dynalite Ballast Controllers to achieve the required LUX levels whilst still maintaining energy savings for 4 main modes (from lowest to highest LUX levels): 1) Security Mode 2) After Hours Mode 3) Public mode and 4) Competition Mode. The ILCS contains an astronomical time-clock and PE cell to provide redundancy of all external functional lighting, ensuring the lighting is turned on as natural daylight fades.
The RGBW DMX lighting has been programmed to provide vibrancy and a fun aspect to the building by simulating the colours of sunset at 5 minutes post sunset, the colours of sunrise at 5 minutes prior sunrise settling on yellow at all other times during the evening, it also cycles through the colours of a Beach Ball (Pastel Blue, Pastel Green, Lime Yellow, Orange, Pastel Pink) every 15 minutes between sunset and 1am.
