"The Journey" Artwork at Stan & Jean Perron Child Advocacy Centre

The Journey is a six story metal artwork commissioned by Parkvale: Children and Youth Care for the Stan & Jean Paul Child Advocacy Centre which provides integrated services to children and young people facing the trauma of child abuse.

Artist, Paula Hart, created the artwork with the intention of providing a welcoming entry message indicative of the safety provided by the Centre. The work is made of layered, perforated aluminum panels reminiscent of childhood elements like paper lanterns, shadow puppets and kirigami. These layers provided the perfect opportunity for decorative lighting to create depth and shadow for a "wow" effect. Paula engaged Light Application to provide a lighting solution that would make the artwork look delightful and fun whilst not screaming at the neighbours with intensity.

The Light Application team supplied pureLED chain luminaires which our technicians installed prior to the artwork being established onsite. The team programmed scheduled on/off times for an aesthetic, subtle light show. Control is handled by a Colour Kinetics iPlayer 3.
